Time flies
It is incredible how time seems to vanish before our eyes. I remember as a child, a year seemed like forever. However, as I get older, I have the impression that time flies. This is no problem, as long as I am making the most of my time. Unfortunately, I know I am not.
Many times I let my body or my mind dictate the use of my time. The body and the mind need rest, but the truth is that sometimes I use this as an excuse to immerse myself in an induced coma while surfing the internet or watching television. It’s not bad to spend some time relaxing in activities like these, but I can’t let them deprive me of using my time in things that are much more important.
How much time do I spend with my family and friends? Am I taking the time to teach my children to be good people? What about the time I spend with God? What good is it to invest most of my time in work and rest, if in the process I waste the time that is needed for the most important things? An investment with no profit is a terrible investment.
I can’t let my life be like that of the servant who did not know how to invest the talent he received from his master (Matthew 25: 14-30). God is not wrong. He has given talents to each one of us. I was created with a purpose and the talents necessary to achieve it. My children need me. My family needs me. There is a world full of people who need to know about God’s love. Time flies. There is no time to waste.
Oh God! Help us to unearth our talents and fulfill your purpose for our lives.
