Busyness
Is your life busy? Mine is. It doesn’t matter what we do for a living, it is easy to get entangled in the busyness of life. Our culture lives at such a fast pace that it is often difficult to stop and ‘smell the roses’.
We have to work, take care of the house, buy groceries, pay the bills, etc. If time allows, we take care of our families and ourselves. Life is too important to allow busyness to take away time from what is most valuable (family, friends, and ourselves).
Yes, I know. We work hard so we can offer our family ‘a good life’. But if busyness takes away the time we need for our relationships, we will be missing the point.
We only get one shot at raising our kids. Whatever we do with our time with them will either positively or negatively impact their lives. They are our responsibility. We can’t allow others to be the main influence over them.
What about time for ourselves? Are we taking care of our health? Are we investing in our relationships? Do we take time to worship our God? Are we ready to face eternity?
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? – Matthew 16:26a
‘Gaining the world’ takes us nowhere. We might obtain titles, make money, or even become famous. However, what good is it if it means losing our soul? But, it is not only my soul that I have to worry about. Each one of us have responsibilities as parents, friends, husbands, wives, and neighbors. We have to do whatever it takes to help those under our influence—to help save their souls.
O God, help us use our time in a way that matters.
