I am ready
Ready for a change
Real change in our lives is impossible without Jesus. I am not talking about a specific church. People can support you in this change process, but only JESUS can change you.
If you understand that you are ready to make this important decision there are a few simple steps to follow:
- Accept your reality. We all have sinned (Rom 3:23) and we all need to be forgiven. The wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23), but through faith in Christ we obtain eternal life (John 3:16). Confess your sins and believe in Jesus.
- Receive Jesus as your Savior. He is our only way to salvation (Acts 4:12). There is no good deed we can do to restore our relation with God (Eph 2:8-9). Jesus did for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves.
- Confess that Jesus is your Lord and believe He was raised from the death (Rom 10:9). When you confess that Jesus is your Lord you accept no one else reigns over your life, not even death.
- Next, pray to God in the name of Jesus. We are not providing you with a formal prayer. Rather pray from your heart, tell God how you feel and that you understand Jesus is your only alternative.
Congratulations! You are now a son of God (John 1:12). Welcome to the family. Now, as a Christian, you just begun a continuous grow process. To help you in this process there are three basic things to do:
- Read the bible. All we need to know to live an abundant life is in the bible. In the bible you will learn about Christ and how to live the christian life. But make it more than just reading. As a new christian you might be tempted to read the bible as fast as you can. Don’t make that mistake. Make sure that you read to learn. Take your time. There are 66 books in the bible. We suggest you begin with the gospel of John. Next go to the Romans. Hopefully, when you are done reading these books you have already found a mentor to help you in this new life. If not, contact us and we will find a way to help you.
- Allocate some daily prayer time. Prayer is conversation with God. In Matthew 6:5-13 you can find a guideline left by Jesus to teach use how to pray. Trying to live the christian life without praying is like trying to run a car without gasoline.
- Find a church. The church consists of the Christians around the world. However, there are different denominations with different worship styles. Find one where they teach the word of God and you feel comfortable. Don’t try to look for a perfect church. All of them are filled with imperfect people in the process of being made perfect by God. If you need help finding a church, contact us and we will find a way to help you.
Christian life will be difficult at times. I have one word for you when you get to that point: PERSEVERE. Remember that you are not alone: Jesus is with you. Sometimes you will even fail. When that happens, don’t look back, ask Jesus for forgiveness (1 John 1:9) and keep following Him.
As you go through this walk we invite you to take advantage of this website. You can use our forum to post questions about the bible or about christian life. You can also access bible studies by visiting our blog.
