Good News
When we tune in to a news program we can see that the bad news seems to have reserved prime time. There is rarely any good news. Unfortunately, life seems to be the same way: we are constantly bombarded by situations and problems.
It seems like we live as firefighters: fighting fires all the time. But, how good it is when we receive good news! Good news is refreshing to our lives. Sadly, over time, every good news is muffled by the amount and intensity of the bad news that we receive. There seems to be no remedy.
From the time of Adam and Eve to our times, we have fallen into the error of doubting the promises of God, wanting to know more than Him, and trying unsuccessfully to live in independence from the giver of life. It doesn’t take a genius to know what has been the result of this strategy: sadness, suffering and death.
Our rejection of God could have resulted in a similar reaction on His part, but it was not so. Instead of abandoning us to the consequences of our sin, God decided to offer us the opportunity to reestablish a reciprocal love relationship with Him.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23
Bad news will continue. But, what will be the last news for your life will depend on your reaction to the constant call of God. Listen, believe and live His word, and you will enjoy the good news of His salvation.
whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life…for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment. – John 5: 24-29
